#gauxtips: What to Read Now

Introducing #gauxtips, a new series of tips, advice, and recommendations from our smart, endlessly amazing family of Gaux Girls. We'll introduce you to some of the founders, designers, and execs who make up this amazing community of women as we take another step into each of their unique worlds to bring you shareable nuggets of wisdom and tips of their trades. Recipes, book recommendations, yoga flows? Expect all of that and more.

As the founder of networking and relationship-building platform Girls' Night In, Alisha Ramos is exactly like the friend you always want to quiz on what she's doing, seeing, or reading. The community she's built feels even more vital right now, hence her opening up the GNI world with the launch of Stay Home, Take Care, a "social distancing care package of resources, activities, and recommendations."

With said distancing, a good book is practically essential—and we wanted to know what Alisha has been devouring lately. She shared the titles she's currently reading and recent favorites that crossed her path (and we were tickled to find out that another of our recent Gaux Girls, author Kiley Reid, was serendipitously included!).

What's on Alisha Ramos' reading list...

  1. The Sun Is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon: "It's essentially a YA novel, and I really needed the mental break right now."
  2. Such a Fun Age by Kiley Reid: "Not YA, but fun! I'm listening to this on audiobook right now and it's great."
  3. Uncanny Valley by Anna Weiner: "Read this if you've ever worked in tech. It's a little too relatable."
  4. Trick Mirror by Jia Tolentino: "This book of essays is like required reading for millennials. Tolentino's prose is so insightful and enjoyable to read."

 Alisha is wearing The Boot.
