Each pair is designed with care in New York, handmade in Spain, and engineered to deliver comfort, confidence, and style without missing a step.

Communicating with our gaux girls has always been a very important part of what we do at Margaux—we love hearing from all of you. Whether by email, DM, chat, or a pop-in at the Bleecker St. store, getting your feedback, thoughts, ideas, and questions is an invaluable part of what we do. 

Focusing on elegant, comfortable pieces that take you from day to night has been our focus since day one and, as you can imagine, hearing from the women we're designing for is paramount to making what you need (and want). We thought we'd take an opportunity to gather some of the questions we field most frequently and turn them over to our team for answers.

"I miss the classic! Is it still possible to order a pair?"

Making space for exciting new silhouettes and investing in different colors of our best-sellers sometimes means saying goodbye to some of our old favorites. We've been hard at work iterating on staple flats like The Demi and The Pointe and developing new low-heeled hits like The Ballet Mule and The Penny. That said, we know we have many fans of The Classic, and are happy to accommodate made-to-order requests for this silhouette. We still have some sizes available in The Classic, too, so be sure to check our Last Chance page to see if your size is in-stock. "How can I make sure my shoes last as long as possible?"

Care for your shoes depends on the fabrication, and over the years, our team has learned a number of tips and tricks for keeping our own pairs looking their best.

Suedes are one of the heartiest leathers we work with—and it makes such a regular appearance in our product assortment that we designed a care kit to help you keep your suedes fresh. With suede, most marks can be removed with a suede brush and the help of a suede cleaner. Regular treatment with our protectant spray helps protect from future wear.

For shoes made from nappa leather like The Demi and The Pointe, several at Margaux HQ swear by this affordable protectant spray. And fabric shoes are best treated with a fabric protectant spray, like ScotchGuard. Spot clean any marks on your fabric shoes with a soft cloth—but be sure not to saturate the fabric with water as the colors may bleed. 

If you have a particularly well-loved, well-worn pair of shoes, you may eventually need to resole your shoes or replace the rubber top-lift on the heel of your shoes. This can be done by a trusted local cobbler or mail-in cobbler service like The Leather Spa. — Sarah, Cofounder 

"Sizing can differ from style to style. How can I best avoid ordering the wrong size?"

A common phrase we’ve passed around Margaux is, “Finding one’s perfect fit is more of an art than a science.” And as many shoppers have noted, the EU size you take in the Demi will not be the same EU size you wear in the Mule. This is partially due to the different constructions of each style we offer (the “science”), but we’ve also updated sizing as we’ve received feedback on how each style fits after some wear (the “art”). 

Each size conversion we have listed on our site has been tailored to each individual style, based on wear testing and feedback from you. So, for instance, on our Pointe page, you’ll note a US 10 corresponds to an EU 40.5, while on our Downtown Boot page, a US 10 is an EU 41. We recommend ordering based on your usual US size, even if the attributed EU size differs from what you’ve worn in the past. Additionally, on each product’s page we offer fit tips and notes on how that particular style runs as a reference and to help narrow down the selection if you’re still between sizes.

"How do you determine the prices of your shoes?"

So glad you asked! Providing exceptional quality at a fair price has been part of our ethos from the very beginning. Every decision we make about our products, from the leathers we choose to the soles we use, is made in service of delivering both comfort and quality. This means that we're working with the best tanneries, component suppliers, and factories at every level of our supply chain, many of whom work with coveted brands whose shoes retail for significantly higher prices. It also means that we will never cut corners to save on cost—and over time, our prices may change to reflect increasing costs from our suppliers and factories. 

When we price our shoes we're aiming to find a sustainable price that helps us maintain the quality of the product without feeling too precious to wear all day, every day. After all, our shoes our meant to take you places—and we've made sure they stand the test of time.  — Sarah, Cofounder
